[Enterasys C3G124-48] Missing Interfaces in GUI
« on: April 27, 2018, 02:13:20 pm »
Hello Community,

I have a bunch of Enterasys C3G124-48 Switches here and in NeDi - But unfortunately the Interface Table ist not existing.

When running the Discovery I see the Ports in the verbose mode; and also the Def File (1.3.6.1.4.1.5624.2.1.98.def) looky okey (IMHO).

Maybe someone can give me a hint where to look further  8)

Thanks & Cheers,

Jan

That's the culprit:

ERR :IF Desc The message size exceeded the buffer maxMsgSize of 1472

Look at Interfaces() function in inc/libsnmp.pm and change this line to include your switch:

   my @maxrep = ($main::dev{$na}{os} =~ /DPC|ESX|Nortel|Netgear|EOSB2/)?( -maxrepetitions  => 12 ):();   # TODO limit where errors occur
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

YES, that did the trick

Code: [Select]
Write Device Info -------------------------------------------------------------
WDEV:... written to nedi.devices
EVNT:MOD=1/1 L=150 CL=lnc TGT=... MSG=host is MAC changed type to MAC
WIF :55 interfaces written to nedi.interfaces
WMOD:1 modules written to nedi.modules
WVLN:0 vlans written to nedi.vlans
WNET:1 networks written to nedi.networks

Thanks Remo!

Cheers,
Jan

* SchmuFoo again  8)

Same problem with an "Extreme Networks S-Series S8 Chassis - Offering up to 576 ports of Gigabit Ethernet or 128 ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity"

Code: [Select]
[..]
Identify .. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++
SNMP:Connect .. .. v2 Tout:2s MaxMS:1472 Retry:1 NB:0
IDNT:Name=..
[..]

Changed the MaxMS (in "/var/nedi-1.6C/inc/libsnmp.pm") for testing to 4096 and with that in place, everything went smooth:

Pre:
Code: [Select]
        $maxms = ($maxms)? $maxms:1472;

Past:
Code: [Select]
        $maxms = ($maxms)? $maxms:4096;

Result:
Code: [Select]
Identify .. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++
SNMP:Connect .. .. v2 Tout:2s MaxMS:4096 Retry:1 NB:0
IDNT:Name=..

Yeh, it's a mess, but SNMP is like 250 years old ;)

FYI, increasing maxmsgsize can result in some switches not responding at all...

Yepp, I had to switch back to the default value because lots of missing data from Extreme Summit Switches X460G2-48x-10G4  :-\

I've been told, there is a max-message-size config option on Extreme switches to fix this behavior...

On (E)XOS, you can try this:

configure snmp compatibility get-bulk reply-too-big-action standard
configure snmp compatibility ip-fragmentation allow

With this both option, you can set back behavior to standard.
In my enviroment it works very well then with NeDi.

Hi Steffen,

thanks! With that in place all error messages with the EXOS based Switches are gone 8)

Cheers (and see you on Hangouts  :P)
