You can add a single device with Devices -> Add, which calls a limited System-NeDi (usable by non-admins)...

Look around line 143 in System-Files.php. This (temporary) crontab is installed via system command and the result printed out...

Ok, I found it.

var/nedi/inc/ is the file devwrite.pl

Towards the bottom is the line with the Safety on! statement. Hash that and unhash the next line.

I would post code examples but the forum blocks me when I try that, so keeping it semi vague.

Installation / crontab not in correct location

Good Morning,

I tried to update the crontab directly through GUI but it didn't seem to be making any differences.

After doing some digging, I realise the GUI is changing a file called crontab in var/nedi/inc/

But when I check the crontab file for user www-data it shows the original file without the changes made.

Any idea how to fix the link between GUI and actual crontab file?

I am trying to send a command to multiple switches ('dir flash:apps') but I get the following output

(Lines Receive) ERR:Safety on! Remove only (devwrite), if you know what you are doing and take full responsibility!!!

I never had this on my old nedi install and I can't work out how to enable devwrite.

Good day all!

Any idea how I can grant users access to do switch discovery without the ability to send commands or delete any info?

I have 45 sites or so with site techs that use NeDi to locate devices, etc in a production facility, and sometimes need the switch discovery updated quicker (we have it set to run every 4 hours).

I don't want them to be able to do any of the other 'admin' tasks though

Any chance you can share your def file and the libsnmp file that worked? I have the same issue on 2.2

EDIT: I updated to 2.3 and hey presto, working like a charm now!

Yes it got rather quiet in recent years. Do you look at nedi.ch at all? You'll see news up there and find the NeDi 2.3 public version in Downloads (2.4 is available for paying customers). So yes, it's being developed...
