Dynamic Device Information
« on: March 07, 2011, 11:09:53 PM »
Hi everyone!

I've been working on a method for dynamic insertion of device information into Nedi.
information is collected straight from CLI using telnet and displayed directly into the nedi user interface.
For now i'm going to stick with interface commands, but i think this has a big potential :)

To collect information I've used a slightly modified version of the "Rancid clogin" script (not included) but any script returning the required information will do..
I did try to use the included DevSend script but i reverted back to  clogin :)

Please let me know what you guys think about this  and i might extend it to other areas :)
What about automatically expanding vlan and cdp tables by the push a button?
or displaying "mac-adresses on port" with the same layout?:)

I've invluded a patch for 1.0.5 beta2 and the php/java scripts used for this.
btv. the included file is a zipped tgz file...

Sounds interesting!

Those expanding tables would be a nice addition and actually line up with my own thoughts. I've considering moving to a js framework to replace the menus and the datepicker (need one with time though) and to add sliders for the Map and Graph modules. Extjs seems quite promising, but I couldn't make up my mind yet.

Let me get 1oh6 out of the way and discuss this afterwards :)
