Hello,
I have cheked the OID's for both the switch.WS-C2960S-48LPS-L and WS-C2960S-24PS-L are on the same SysObjId i.e 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208

I think Remo can have look and suggest some idea to solve this problem.

Look like Cisco has kept the SysObjId common for both the model of switch.
if you check this in Defgen at MODEL with 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.3.1.1.17 you will get different models, Nedi discovers and sorts model on SysObjId.

I also could not get the Power usage on each port in NEDI, which is working fine with 3650's and 3750's.

Thnaks for your help in Advance.

There's a new description OID field (have a look at AP2131 for an example). The power mib is a bit strange as it seems to map IFs on the actual name? Close the what some LLDP implementations do. I'd need some playtime with those devices, if no one else can figure this one out...

Hi everybody,

we have lots of 2960S switches of different types (24 and 48 Port, with and without PoE option) in place, and unfortunately, because Cisco gives them just one OID (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208) it is not possible to separate the different types from each other.

I tried vtur's hint and I added "Typoid  1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.13.1001" to the "1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208.def", but it seems not to work.

I added the Typoid statement into the .def file from a termial session using VI
Code: [Select]
nedi:/var/nedi/sysobj#more 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208.def
# Definition for 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208

# General
SNMPv   2HC
Type    WS-C2960S
Typoid  1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.13.1001
OS      IOS
Icon    w2bn
Bridge  VLX
Dispro  CDP
Serial  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.3.6.3.0
Bimage  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.73.0

Now, I rescanned such a switch and opened the 'Device Status' page for that switch again, but the Type is still a "WS-C2960S"

And now the strange thing...

If I open the "Defgen" now, the Typoid fild is empty!

If I add the SNMP id to the Typoid field an run an SNMPGet by clicking on the green arrow beside the field, I receive the correct switch type.

When I update and write the .def file from the Defgen Web page, the Typoid field is written, but the next time I open it again, the Typoid field is empty again - although the entry is still in the .def file.

When I rescan a 2960S switch, the Type is always the one which is configured in the 'Type' field of the .def file.
I tested already to remove the "Type" from the .def file, but without success.

If you're using Defgen in 1.0.6 make sure you're using the .defs in /var/nedi/sysobj. If in doubt, remove the softlink to sysobj in html/log, if it exists. It still reverts to reading existing .defs in threre, which is confusing, I know. I did this, because it makes thinigs much easier in the upcoming NeDiO7, which lets you manage files and everything else much like an appliance...

The Typoid mechanism itself works quite well, e.g. with Cisco AP1230 series, which was the reason why I've added it in the first place...

Can you have a look at the .defs in  /var/nedi/sysobj and make sure Typeoid is in there?

Yes, I use 1.06  :)

The Typoid is in the .def file located in the /var/nedi/sysobj directory...

Code: [Select]
nedi01:/var/nedi/sysobj#more 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208.def
# Definition for 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208

# General
SNMPv   2HC
Type    WS-C2960S
Typoid  1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.13.1001
OS      IOS
Icon    w2bn
Bridge  VLX
Dispro  CDP
Serial  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.3.6.3.0
Bimage  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.73.0

But unfortunately, for all of my 2960S switches, just "WS-C2960S" is displayed as type on the web page. Just in the module description, the correct switch type is listed like "WS-C2960S-48TS-L". But maybe that is what is expected?

When I look in the database, the 'Type' field of the device table is filled with "WS-C2960S"

Ok, I can't see why this is the case. If it actually reads this typeoid successfully from the switch you should see: TYPE:Using PhysicalModelName

Gonna add an explicit error message for the next version @467 of libsnmp.pl. Might help you debugging:

         }else{
            &misc::Prt("ERR :Type $err, $to\n","Sy");

Hi,

in my case, it works with the Typeoid.
Interface power is correctly displayed with these settings:
Code: [Select]
IFpowr 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.402.1.2.1.7
IFpwix 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.4.1.1.11

I was looking for this OID for Power . it is working for me as well, Thanks. well this works with 3560's as well.
I dont know why it is not working with 3750's, any one with working OID on 3750's?
I have also noticed that switch with Enhanced image i.e IP services this POWER OID is not workig.
