Nedi on windows 7
« on: January 19, 2011, 04:50:18 PM »
just bought a sony vaio laptop with Windows 7, plugged it into my homenetwork and installed all the components of NeDi 1.0. UI is opening up and from outside things look ok, but running nedi.pl -clrob does not discover even itself. in the seedlist, i have kept just the ip4 address of the laptop. I can access other machines on the network using windows explorer.
any guess?

Try -pr since -c is depreciated (I know  docs need to be updated)...
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

I think I have 1.0.0 (20th May 2008) version and -pr does not work with it. it reports 'p' as an unknown option and shows usage.
-clrob works fine on windows 2000 server.
I just ran it on windows 2003 server and there also it is NOT discovering anything.
are there some ports that I need to open or some services that must be running for it to work?

upgraded to 1.0.5 and ran with -pr on windows 7 machine.
now it finds windows 2k server on the network and takes it as a device, but still does NOT find machine's name and other details like os, interfaces of the machine where it runs (ie. windows 7) etc and puts it as a node.
