Filter empty VLANs?
« on: January 13, 2011, 01:21:08 PM »
Would it be possible to add a toggle to hide empty VLANs in the Device->Vlan view (i.e., where population is 0)?  I distribute VLANs via VTP which means that every VLAN shows up in every switch regardless of whether there is anything currently in that VLAN on that switch.  Or would that not work/be useful?

Steve.

Population is how I determine, whether a Vlan is empty or not  :)

It could make sense though, if pvids would be factored in...in other words only list the empty vlan on devices where untagged ports are found. What does everyone think?
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

We would just need to make sure that VLANs only used on tagged ports (with hosts in that VLAN) don't disappear.
1) IP phones
2) trunk ports (we don't use them much, but it happens as example on VM hosts).

But otherwise I agree. With VTP the VLAN list is pretty much useless as it is now.
