Problem with Backups and SSH
« on: October 18, 2010, 05:20:33 PM »
hi there,

I always got problems with Nedi and the SSH mode. I am not able to receive a backup from one of our switches.

First try:
Code: [Select]
./nedi.pl -ba sinet4
OUI: 15969 NIC vendor entries read
DEV: 138 devices read from nedi.devices
LINK: 0 links (WHERE type = "STAT") read from nedi.links

Manual-Discovery (1.0.5) with 1 seed on Mon Oct 18 17:11:40 2010
================================================================================
Device Status Todo/Done-Time

172.20.7.173 SINET4      v13 i113 Jvj1 p0/0 m2 a2 f0 Hs    0/1-2s

Took 0 minutes

Devs: 1 devices discovered
Node: 3137 nodes read () from nedi.nodes
Node: 1 IP and 0 non-IP nodes processed
Node: 3137 nodes written to nedi.nodes

and with debug:
Code: [Select]
./nedi.pl -dba sinet4
Started with relative path
LWP not available
Net::SSH::Perl loaded
OUI: 15969 NIC vendor entries read
DEV: 138 devices read from nedi.devices

One of the interesting things is that there is the "Hs" code if you use no debug mode and with debug mode you receive "Ho". And you can see that the SSH lib was loaded, so there is no reason for "Hs". I am able to login to that switch manually with SSH and I am in enable mode with that user. I also don't know why there should be the address/socket already in use? With netstat and lsof I can not find a socket in use or things like that.

Any ideas?

The whole SSH perl lib was rather flacky, thus I started using lib-io-tty piping through openssh. It works pretty well....even on ESX hosts! 1oh6 is getting closer, don't worry...

As you can see, nobody likes to debug this CLI stuff! That's why I wrote the new library with less dependencies improved support and much better debugging options. It will be worth the wait...
