CDP/LLDP: neighbor management address is type "MAC"-address

Hello!

If discovery-process with link-detection (option -p) reads an ip-address of a neighbor device from the internal lldp-table of the discovered device, then all is working great and the neighbor device will also discovered and shown as link!
But if only a mac-address will transmitted as management-address from the neighbor-device (default by a lot of devices) , NeDi only show this mac-address as device-name in the link-table.

Is there a way to ask the gateway of the discovered device for the arp-entry (or the nedi-database)  for the ip belowing to this mac and then processing like above?

Not yet, good idea though... What devs do behave like that?
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

We restricted LLDP on our cisco devices like that because otherwise it talks way too much on the user ports (software versions, etc). We need LLDP on the user ports to negotiate PoE on the IP phones. But the cisco switches still show their name which nedi could resolve.
(Note: we currently use CDP as discovery protocol, so nedi works fine!)

IOS commands:


no lldp tlv-select management-address
no lldp tlv-select system-description
lldp run
inter gi 0/1
 no lldp med-tlv-select inventory-management
