Node table - Layer-3 entries
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:47:03 PM »
The problem is, if no L2 entry will found for a node it will be attached to the device containing the ARP entry. But this is very confusing, because that is typical not the device where the node is physicaly connected to. Is there is a possibility to can tell nedi.conf, that this nodes will be shown to device "unknown" instead to the virtual connection (default gateway) of the node?

I doubt it.

In "Play with NeDi", I added extra db entries for which L3 device and which L2 device the node was found on
- but this was more play with my special case where I have a L2 net that services 3 other seperate L3 nets in a IT center.
It wan't quite as simple as I had hoped using standard NeDi subroutines, and I have to do some more playing to get it right.

In the GUI, one could have an entry "flagged" that it is only seen on L3 (from arp information).
