I just achieved a milestone in NeDi's SSH support. Further development is going to keep me busy for a while, so I hope the community will help those, who experience problems with the current version. Check out this thread for development progress. I'll also put up some news on the homepage now and then...

  • nosnmpdev now honours border (to avoid phones showing up as devices). Added support for Aastra phones.
  • SNMP support for Alcatel switches confirmed. CLI support under investigation.
  • Config backup for ProCurve switches working now
  • New CLI library supports Enterasys and Extreme devices. Much better SSH using io::pty and openssh.
  • Fixed bug for TopRRDs http://forum.nedi.ch/index.php?topic=618.msg2747#msg2747
  • Experimented with gammu and a mobile phone for sending SMSs. Looking good so far!
  • Tables can be optimized from Other-Export now. This is handy when NeDi slows down with large tables (I'd still keep messages under a million, though)
  • GUI enhancements: Printout feature added, reports can be filtered with certain criterias
  • Stale discovery threads and nodelocks will be taken care of (based on OXO's suggestion)
  • Optimized monitoring (e.g. no (had some issues with latency calculation) Less bursty polls), many GUI improvements
  • Redesigning monitoring! Nodes can be added for service checks as well now!
  • New SNMP library in progress...(waiting on feedback from contributors to proceed), improved GUI SNMP in the meantime
  • Added LWP support for Aastra phones
  • Added CDP detection for vSwitches (see attached). Now the topology extends beyond virtualisation!
  • Improved IF metrics
  • Improving Device-Writer. Probably bringing back CatOS support for BridgeFWD via CLI

As long as it's only my hobby, I can't make any commitments, sorry.

Could be realized with setting an enable prompt of > in the new libcli...

Rickli,

I using gammu since some years now. It works fine, especially the option
to use mysql as a messages store to queue the messages I like.
I use it for Zabbix network monitoring.
In the company I have a Siemens MC35i terminal, that works fine and stable.
I tested some other phones, they were not stable.

Any updates on 1o6? Maybe a beta or RC for a test drive? Wink

I've been way too busy recently, but I try to make some time for NeDi now! I plan quite a rewrite of libsnmp based on Steffen's contribution. I'll publish RCs once this is out of the way...please bear with me  Smiley
