Path Problem on Ubuntu 9.04
« on: August 18, 2009, 02:20:36 AM »
Quick question...

I just installed NeDi on a Ubuntu 9.04 by following the directions for the same OS. I installed it in /opt/nedi as per the instructions. However, it looks like somewhere in the PL or PHP files is a path variable pointing to /var/.
Can someone tell me what file I have to update to set the correct path variable? Also, what would be the syntax?

Since I run the network system at the US Tennis Open, I have thousands of devices to monitor which is why I had to upgrade to this new server.

Devsend.pl  and looking for nedi.conf besides /etc is hardcoded to /var/nedi. The rest (RRDs and configs) can be set in nedi.conf. So either a softlink to /var/nedi point to your /opt/nedi  or just one for /etc/nedi.conf (and edit the same)  should help...

Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

Hi,
 This is my first port ot Nedi.. first of all thank you very much for a very good software.
 Last Monday only I started to use it. today I got my approval for this forum.

I am having hard time to set the config backup up and running. I have checked all the messages available on this forum. I want to install Nedi on Ubuntu 8.10

My problem is, I have followed all the instruction showen in forum topics.( it is some way the path related issue.)

I am using /opt/nedi path. I have changed in nedi.conf from /var/nedi to /opt/nedi.
I have installed all the ssh and telnet related perl dependency.

but still my out put is like this.
--------------------------------------

hamin@wiflnx2:/opt/nedi$ sudo ./nedi.pl -obd
Started with relative path
LWP loaded

Net::SSH::Perl not available

OUI:    15969 NIC vendor entries read
DEV:    89 devices read from nedi.devices
LINK:   0 links (WHERE type = "STAT") read from nedi.links

OUI-Discovery (1.0.5-RC3) with 2 seeds on Wed Nov 18 12:21:28 2009
================================================================================
Device                          Status                           Todo/Done-Time
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my environment use of telnet  is ok.but even that is also not working.

NB: all my ciso switch askes for password (no user name or any prompt for it.)

can some one help on this issue...?

Regards,
Harry.

Looks like you have no seedlist, so nedi has no starting point.
If you have no username (just a telnet password), use "-" as username (without quotes).

That would mean you're missing this Perl module. It can be installed by CPAN (or Ubuntu package management?).
