Interface Description
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:16:16 PM »
Hi,

First of all THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the great tool NEDI!  :)

I do not know exactly if it is a problem from nedi or from cisco ios but maybe anybody of you can help me

I've a little problem with the interface description of our Gigabit switches (WS-C2960G-48-TC-L) which is not displayed in the section "Device Status - Interfaces".

for instance:
Gi0/1    80   GigabitEthernet0/1 -blank-    100M

but with our WS-C2950G-48-EI we can see the description (--D 12--):

for instance:
Fa0/1    80   FastEthernet0/1 --D 12--    100M

the format of that description is always similar to the above one and it has not more characters.

What I have recognized is that the ifindex of Gigabit interfaces always have a value of 10000 and the 100Mbit Interfaces starts at a value of 1 in the database

Thank you very much for your help

Maybe the .def is wrong. I got 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.4.1.1.4 for IF alias in mine, but I've seen one using 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.28. Maybe this one works better? Just edit 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.694.def for testing. Pls let me know if it does...
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

Leaving it empty makes NeDi use the standard OID (1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.18) for that, which seems to work with newer Cisco devices now...
