graph rights
« on: February 11, 2009, 02:31:33 PM »
hello,
Nedi works very well,
However, I have a problem with graph.
when I run (as root or not) nedi.pl -co, the graph are drawn.
but when ./nedi -co launches itself every 4 hours, nothing is recorded in the graph!
I think a problem of rights.

have you an idea ???

It would be more interesting to see a listing of the rrd directory. If the files were created by root and have no write rights for the user nedi runs, it won't work.

Check your $PATH. If run by cron you have a minimalistic $PATH, so rrdtool may not be found by nedi.

when I run. / nedi.pl-co (as root or not) the graph is drawed well but when it starts automatically, everything works except the recording of value to draw the graph.

best regards.

Yes, so it's a problem of the environment cron runs. View post above. the solution is to a) hardcode the rrd paths or b) add the needed dirs to the path env variable before running nedi (by cron).

For b) Add

PATH=$PATH:/path/to/rrdtool

in front of your nedi start call.

For a) change line 20 in inc/libmisc.pl

Would this be the same issue I have..

All the directories and .rrd files are created by nedi as below, I changed thm to 777 to see if it helped but it did not.

if I click on the cross where the graph sould be and copy the link into my browser I get the following error

RRD /var/nedi/rrd/Gateway-SW/Vl1.rrd not found!
rrdtool graph - -a PNG -w70 -h52 -g -s -7d -L5
   DEF:inoct0=/var/nedi/rrd/Gateway-SW/Vl1.rrd:inoct:AVERAGE CDEF:binoct0=inoct0,8,* AREA:binoct0#0000aa:"Vl1  in\l"
   DEF:outoct1=/var/nedi/rrd/Gateway-SW/Vl1.rrd:outoct:AVERAGE CDEF:boutoct1=outoct1,8,* LINE2:boutoct1#008800:"Vl1 out"

But looking in my rrd diretory they are all there, could sombody point me into the right direction

This typically happens when your apache user is unable to access the directory. Check *all* parent directories. I guess at least one of them is missing the "other read bit".

I have checked the parent directories and all seem to have read access, I deleted the files created by NeDi and re ran the discovery and they were all re-created with

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 47992 2009-02-16 09:57 Vl1.rrd
48 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 47992 2009-02-16 09:57 Vl2.rrd

So I'm guessing this is the correct permissions

Does anybody a correct list of permissions that I can compare

Cheers

Hello I come to you because the graphics equipment does not always draw.

my install folder is /opt/nedi/

thank you in advance for giving me your time for my problem !!!

this my nedi.conf :

# Points to executable (leave empty to disable graphs)
rrdcmd          rrdtool

# Location of the actual RRDs
#rrdpath                /var/nedi/rrd
rrdpath                 /opt/nedi/rrd

# This value needs to be set to the discovery interval in seconds. Make sure it
# corresponds to the NeDi's crontab entry (e.g. hourly "1 * * * *" => 3600).
rrdstep         3600

# Prefix to call Cacti's CLI tools for adding graphs in Devices-Graph
#;cacticli      /usr/bin/php /var/www/html/cacti/cli
;cacticli       /usr/bin/php /var/www/cacti/cli

# Cacti integration. Uncomment, if you want Devices-Status to link to Cacti.
# You'll need to have the NeDi device names as host (or description) in cacti,
# with that a link can be established.
;cactihost      localhost
;cactidbd       cacti
;cactiuser      cactiuser
;cactipass      cactipa55
;cactiurl       /cacti

this my /inc/libmisc.pl :
