Option to merge history of device

I was not able to find a way to do this

I have a device discovered "long time ago"
I have for it all graphs, history ....

for an independent reason I need to change the name of that device
after I do this I can wait until next discovery process or force a rediscovery
in this moment I'll have 2 devices
1. "previous"  rename
2. "after" rename

it will be great to be able in GUI to just "merge" this 2

in theory the data in background should not be overlapping
but even if there are some overlapping data, the "new-er" device must be chosen for overlapped data

can anyone point to this tool if it exist?
if not - where it should be asked as a future development feature?

I'd go with the new device and simply move the RRD files over to the new folder...
