Manually Adding / Importing Devices?
« on: June 28, 2017, 03:37:27 AM »
So we use Nedi in a very large environment with great success.  So much so, that we use queries and data dips into the database for other systems (not regular, just grab the data and get out).
One thing that we haven't figured out for sure, is whether we would "break" anything by manually updating into the database for "dark" devices that we know exist, but are not regularly accessible.
These are devices that we need in our reports, but are not accessible via SNMP, Ping, or any discovery protocol, and we're currently having to manually add and prune these devices from our reports by hand.

TL;DR: Can you just update into the MySQL device table manually without breaking anything else in the application?  Or are there "hooks" into other things when a discovery is done?

Great to hear, thanks for the feedback! Hope it becomes so important that you want to buy the subscription ;)

You can create devices by directly inserting them into the devices table or by clicking the "green plus" in Devices-Status...

There's even a cloudlink.pl script that can create virtual links to such manually added devices (to represent provider clouds for example)
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

If we can get it working exactly how we envision it - no question that we'll be proposing the Subscription to management.

Thanks!
