vmware host without distributed switches
« on: March 05, 2017, 11:44:29 AM »
Hi,

What awesome software this is - thank you.

I look after smaller organisations that still want the network diagrams Nedi produces.

My issue is they don't have the top end vmware licences that allow for distributed switches.

So when I run the discovery I get my hots and VMs show up but they are not linked to anything - my maps show them all separated.

How do I link the VMs to their hosts if I don't have distributed switches?

Can this be done manually or is there some software I can install on the VMs so this is picked up automatically by Nedi?

Yes you can.
If you know the links and ports NeDi allow you to add links manually.
Please go to Topology and select Linked option.
where you have to select correct device and ports and than Add it.

I hope this will help you.

Regards,
Harry.

If you have Cisco switches, you could enable CDP on the ESXi as well...
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!
