All devices are showing as CLI Port 0
« on: October 19, 2015, 01:02:41 AM »
Hi

I have just started with Nedi using Nedio14. I didnt initialise the DB (overlooked it), but doing discovereis i have my devices in the DB (via SNMP).
When i look the CLI Port for every device is showing as 0.

I have since added a u/p that i used for ssh access to an ESX host, and doing a ./nedi.pl -a HOSTIP didnt add anything else to it. So i deleted the host from the Nedi GUI, then added it to the seedlist, and run a ./nedi.pl again - it added it but it added it again with Port 0.

In the log i see this show up:
Prepare (CLI) ----------------------------------------------------------------
PREP:ARP/ND table not implemented ArpND (SNMP)

I read a post that i needed to initialise the do ./nedi.pl -i but that failed:
DBI connect('dbname=mysql;host=localhost','nedi',...) failed: ......￿ at ./inc/libdb.pm line 37.

Using the GUI i get the same error:
Initialize NeDi DB!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
mysql admin user: mysql admin pass: DBI connect('dbname=mysql;host=localhost','',...) failed: ..... D at /var/nedi/inc/libdb.pm line 37.

Can someone point me to where the issue could be?

Thanks

Paul

Hi

I decided to build a clean Ubuntu 12.04 server and install Nedi and initialised the DB OK.
I then did a discovery - got the same result of CLI Port 0.

So dont think its related to the server, but have no idea on what to look at next.

Maybe silly question but do you have some kind of usr line in nedi.conf defined with the esxi credentials? Can you do from command line or from GUI the discovery run (with -v parameter, e.g. "/var/nedi/nedi.pl -v -a 1.2.3.4") to see if Nedi is going through the usr lines and to make sure it's not giving any errors regarding SSH access. Post output here if you're still stuck.

Hi

i did have just 1 user in the nedi file which was the root access to esx. I just added a second user which would of given me access to our cisco router. Here is the output of your request (i tried another esx host that was not in Nedi yet); and also ran your command against a cisco device - neither of which used CLI access:

root@Nedi:/opt/nedi# ./nedi.pl -v -a 10.253.252.11

What do you want to do with SSH on the ESXi? As long as you don't use -b there's no reason for nedi.pl to even try logging in...
Please consider Other-Invoices on your NeDi installation for an annual contribution, tx!

Remo

I saw one of your videos on Youtube where you were able to get VM details and power them off/on - which is very powerful functionality!

Also i ahve teh same issue ssh access when trying to connect cisco routers too - so its not specifically ESX, Nedi doesnt ssh into anything.
