NeDi09 upgrade to NeDi 1.4
« on: February 09, 2015, 04:21:34 PM »
I am not new to NeDi, but I am new to OpenBSD.

Since 1.4 is now out, what is the recommended upgrade path for the NeDi09 system?

What commands are there to update OpenBSD to latest fixes?
Update to MySQL? PhpMyAdmin wants at least 5.2.
Anything else in NeDi09 that needs updating as well?

Thanks! NeDi is a great product!

Your question is spot on. Give me a couple of days and you can download NeDiO14 :-)

Just downloaded and setup NeDio014. I ran across a couple of issues that worked in Nedio -9 but is not working correctly in ver. 01.4. I have several Cisco 1841 routers that when I try to add either by discovery or adding by seedlist, it fails with SNMP access.  It seems to discover all of the nodes on the devices but it will not resolve the DNS name and the IP address is only showing 0.0.0.0. Both of these worked correctly in the previous version.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks......

Most likely a .def file issue. You'd easily see this with nedi.pl -va <ip>
I have a bunch of cisco1812 and they're fine...

I can not find a topic for 1.4 so I am posting it here.

Installed a fresh Nedio14.

Congratulations and thanks a lot to Remo for providing this version. I can see lot of features are added.
Like it retains your last selection of fields, me.php, the noodle search on top bar...this can be a big list for GUI features to list here.

Though I bumped in to some errors listed here which will help to improve NEDI.(and resolve my issues, being selfish here.)

1. Network port link for device like printer, Aruba Controllers to switch is missing and no more populated as it was previous versions.

2. In device write while executing the command it comes up with "Errors Write /var/nedi/cli/cmd_admin"

3. With backup, I have ssh and telnet access devices I can not backup both the protocol at a time. only one will works with change in nedi.conf for usssh = never and commenting it.

4. The monitoring graphs are blank even after two days.

still exploring....

Thanks and regards,
Harry.

Thanks, 1.4 was a milestone because I finally had the time do some serious coding and cleanup. Rest assured 1.5 will set the bar even higher! I do hope companies and institutions start paying the subscription (in Other-Invoices), which effectively finances development at this pace...

As to your questions
1. Major rework of link calculation. Support for those links is  temporarily removed as it was dodgy in some cases. I'll try to bring it back (even for controlled APs, if time permits)
2. Does folder exist and is writable for webserver?
3. Strange, I have many networks using both concurrently. Try debugging with the help of the CLI tutorial (http://youtu.be/wo7PN3syJdo)
4. Can nedi.pl write to the rrd folder?

HI Remo,

1. we will wait for next version.
2. No I created one directory "cli"bye user WWW
3.Backup -still debugging, will let you know the out come.
4. The graphs are created but broken part. I think I need to set the config right for RRD time and discovery time.

Thanks,
Harry.
