How would you like that?

Great idea, makes it's much easier to avoid networks this way!

netfilter logic
« on: April 01, 2014, 01:39:00 PM »
Something that's been bothering me for a while is that netfilter and descfilter use contrary logic! I plan to invert netfilter for matching networks you wish to ignore (same logic as descfilter).

New examples:

netfilter commented = discover them all
netfilter ^(129.129|192.168) = Avoid 129.129/16 and 192.168/16, but discover everything else

Sorry Remo, but I partially don't agree with your idea.
Even if not too hard to do (you are the developer!), having two ways to choose the right network is preferable.
In my (our) case, we have switches on a dedicated subnet, the same for printers (that I don't monitor with NeDi, but who knows?) and so on.
So include a couple of network is better then excluding all the other unwanted.

My two cents.. :)

I want to thumbs up PC_SG's comment.
It's easier to allow than exclude.

Mark.

Since nobody else replied I'm closing this thread. I'll leave netfilter as is, but rename descfilter to ignoredesc in order to avoid confusion...
