vSwitch discovery
« on: June 06, 2013, 03:42:03 PM »
Is possibile to add a VMware ESX 4.1 vSwitch to my NeDi system?
And a RHEV 3.x virtualswitch? :)

Any idea? I'm trying with vSphere Command-Line but ... nothing.
Thanks, Morgan

Do a perldoc /var/nedi/inc/libcli-iopty.pm and you'll see how to enable CDP and SNMP on an ESXi. Not just the vswitch, but also the VMs should show up (as modules). Sorry, no support for any other hypervisors yet...

Ok, I've just configured and seen.
So I can have an inventary of all my VMs and them status.
Then I can see the status and the bandwith in realtime of vmnic#, but ... not of the vSwitch#, is correct?

Thanks a lot, Morgan

Yes, that's correct. In addition you have a little VM allocation report in Reports-Modules...

If you enable SSH access, you can start and stop VMs. Even deleting and creating them is possible (with Nodes-Create)!
