Disk space
« on: August 29, 2012, 10:55:13 AM »
Hi all,

When I compare the size of my database dump with about 400 MB and the size that NeDi uses, which is about 60 GB, I ask myself, if I will run out of disk space some time.
Question: are the rrd values deleted by NeDi sometimes? Or do I need to take care about that with a cron job?

Are there any more things, that might use a lot of disk space, except the rrds?

I've added a "delete broken rrd files" option in System-Files, which will remove RRDs not updated for $retire days...

I've also found that the MySQL binary log eats up lots of space (especially with lots of nodes)...

Ok. Thanks for the quick answer. I am not the rrd specialist, so another question: is it possible to delete "old values"? RRDs will permanently be updated, but values older than a year won't be of interest.

The only other option would be to delete them all once a year, which is probably also acceptable.

RRD will manage removal of old values. You can make them smaller by using a smaller value for rrdsize in nedi.conf. This makes sense, especially for large networks like yours. Because with a discovery interval of several hours you'd end up with RRDs storing data over several years...

Hello. I'am new to nedi. I inherited the system from a colleague that moved on from our company. As i have to manage it i have a problem of low disk space. I would like to remove the rrds that are not updated but i get an permission denied on the web interface when i run the "delete broken RRDs" on the System tab. Thank you for any advice. Best regards.

HI Nadzornet,
Do you have Administrator access? if yes the difference is you are trying to remove RRD by selecting "delete broken RRDs" which may not help.
I can suggest one thing though, go to System-Export, Export all events and delete the table value by select the red "X" mark for event table.

Regards,
Harry.

Hi, i've tried the above with no succes. First of all i have to say i am using Nedi version 1.0.7 what i just found out. So after i make some space on the drive i will update it.

Nedi is using 747Mb of space from this RRD folder is 725Mb.

I have administrative acces.
Is there a cli command that i can use to delete old RRD files?

Thank you for helping.

To delete RRDs older than 10 days:

find /var/nedi/rrd/ -mtime +10 -exec rm -rf {} \;
