Installation / Digest Authentication Setup
« on: October 12, 2017, 09:18:54 PM »
We are running NeDi 1.6.1. It's been GREAT!! However, we want to secure the box using Digest Authentication along with SSL. I have taken care of the SSL part, but how do you setup Digest Authentication with a PHP-based site? I'm not sure how to get the .htdigest file to line up with NeDi's user management?

Help!!  :-[

It's working!! Thanks again, gentlemen, for your help!! I didn't have my nfdump path setup correctly in NeDi.conf.  :-[

This is the file I see in the device folder:

when I run sfcapd with the correct options (name,IP,path) here is the returned result:

"Add extension: 2 byte input/output interface index
Add extension: 4 byte input/output interface index
Add extension: 2 byte src/dst AS number
Add extension: 4 byte src/dst AS number
Add extension: 4 byte output bytes
Add extension: 8 byte output bytes
Add extension: NSEL Common block
Add extension: NSEL xlate ports
Add extension: NSEL xlate IPv4 addr
Add extension: NSEL xlate IPv6 addr
Add extension: NSEL ACL ingress/egress acl ID
Add extension: NSEL username
Add extension: NSEL max username
Add extension: NEL Common block"

Does that look right?  :-\  I'm a complete newbie to nfdump/nfsen/sflow/netflow. I'm learning this as I go, literally.

Ok. I'm trying to figure out how to get nfDump to utilize the sfcapd. I'm sure I've got it installed, but it defaults to the nfcapd when I start the service. Is this something as simple as a .conf file config?

Ok. I got it figured out and setup, but now my NFcap is lighting up with red error text:

"Ident: none, Error reading netflow header: Unexpected netflow version 0"

Any ideas?

Hi, Rickli,

I checked that out, and even tried running the pl script directly "./flowi.pl" but to no avail. I get the following error:

stat() error '/var/nfdump//nfcapd.201705091415': File not found!

Any ideas?

I wasn't sure which topic thread to post this under, I hope I got the right one!!! We are using NeDi Plus and would like to make use of the Nodes-Traffic module. However, I'm new to setting up NFdump and Sflow (we use HP Procurve switches). Would someone be able to give me some pointers on how to get this setup on the server? I'm pretty confident with the syntax on pointing Sflow on the switch side. Just need to know how to set this up server-side for NeDi.

Cheers!!  :)

Hi, Rickli!! Thanks for the help!!

So I output my nedi.pl verbosity to a txt file and looked through it. It gets through my seedlist until it gets about mid-way to one of my switches. When it starts to enter the ARP table, it stops. Then the below error appears on the output.

DBD::mysql::db do failed: Data too long for column 'aname' at row 1 at ./inc/libdb.pm line 1921         *

Is there a node name with a total FQDN name that's too long for the field? If so, does anyone have an idea as to how I can expand that field size? I'm not too familiar with MYSQL syntax.

the log in /var/log/nedi/nedi.log displays that NeDi only scanned eight of my 200-plus switches, and the last one has "stop".

Here's the tail of the log from today's time stamp (minus IP information):

#20170426:1615 start
Stadium-Backbon  v18 i50    j8   p1 b0 m3    a16o0/0    f163 c160  327/15-4s

It's like it only selectively scans certain switches, then stops. It's the weirdest thing. And sure enough, in my Devices > Status view, all eight of those switches are the only ones that don't show outdated discoveries.

Here's my cron:
# or 5 min interval (for very small networks)

We are using NeDi Plus. It's been solid for us, minus a problem I have run into for the past month. The RRD graphs have suddenly stopped graphing, and the discovers on my switches are all showing "Discover Outdated!". The NeDi Cron is running.

Any ideas? :-[

Discovery / Re: Config backup error: not supported
« on: May 17, 2016, 05:48:30 PM »
I know this topic is older, but I have a question regarding config backup not supported error as well. All but one of my switches is backing up their configs to NeDi 1.4. It's a 48-port Procurve 3800. It returns the Config: Backup not supported error and fails the backup.

Discovery / Config Backup Issue - HP Procurve
« on: May 16, 2016, 03:20:47 PM »

I am trying to get backups of the configs off of all of the HP Procurve switches on my network. The weird thing is all of the switches, that NeDi has discovered are backing up fine, EXCEPT a handful of them. They are giving me the "Connection pattern match timed out" error and then set the CLI port to 1. I ran a side-by-side comparison of the switches that aren't working to the ones that are. Their configurations are EXACTLY the same, word-for-word, character-for-character (with exception to name/IP). Below is the error from the readout after resetting CLI, and running config backup manually:

ERR0:pattern match timed-out
DISC:Cli config = connection pattern match timed-out
EVNT:MOD=B/1 L=150 CL=cfge TGT=AJCN-Backbone-HP3500 MSG=Config backup error: connection pattern match timed-out

Write Device Info -------------------------------------------------------------
WDEV:AJCN-Backbone-HP3500 written to nedi.devices
DISC:ToDo/Done-Time                  0/1-23s

Any ideas? I have already tried rebooting said switches with no luck.

A BIG fan of this software!!!  :D
