Hi KB,

GUI / Choose column order on listings
« on: July 06, 2016, 11:15:27 AM »
Hi all,

I have created a simple "plugin" for NeDio14 allowing to choose column order on listings.
Now you can select which columns will appear on report and their order on listing too.

Pluginīs dialog is fired up when a new "Order" button, located near to selected fields, is pressed (another event could be used - listbox doubleclick, ...).

Pluginīs dialog contains a typical set of controls for this function:

  - A listbox containing all available fields on listing
  - A selected fields listbox
  - Buttons to rearrange fields order on second listbox : top, bottom, up, down.

Fields can be moved from one listbox to another one using double-click.
Multiple field selection can be used to move options between listbox and to rearrange order on selected fields listbox.
Adding fields on second listbox is made after last selected field on that listbox (or at the end if no one is selected) allowing to insert elements in the middle of listbox.

Attached are the following files:

  - inc/zChooseOrder.js : Javascript file implementing pluginīs dialog
  - inc/zChooseOrder.css : Stylesheet (sorry is very poor)
  - Nodes-List2.php : NEDIO14īs Node-List program modified to use plugin
  - NodeList-ColumnOrder.png : Choose Column Order dialog in action

Code modifications on Node-List2.php are delimited by HTML comments:

  - Block 1 : Construction of selected fields listbox and button to start plugin. It could be moved to a function on libmisc.php for better organization.
  - Block 2 : The selected fields' loop.
  - Block 3 : Special columns outside the loop (deleted elementīs log).

I hope it will be interesting for anyone else.

Regards,

JoSerra

Discovery / Re: Device name + FQDN and Neighbor name truncation
« on: March 29, 2016, 10:49:49 AM »
Hi Hannu,

Thanks a lot for your comment.
It works fine but you need to know previously the name of your devices to avoid to be identified erroneously.

I discovered this problem using NeDi in our network with an stranger network loops.
I think that creating a new NeDi"domain name" parameter would be a better solution.

Thanks again.

...

A second cuestion  :-\

I donīt like to include domain name in deviceīs name, but we have several devices with a period character on device name and cannot be changed.
Is there any workaround to use an specific device name when certain device name is discovered ?
For example, i would like RAD_0.3_cat3750G_IMG01.acme.com device to be named RAD_0.3_cat3750G_IMG01

Making rename on database generates "duplicated" devices when next discovery process is executed.

Whatīs the source code lib/file/line where device name is fixed ?

Thanks

A flavour of autoresponse  ::)

Device names are fixed on inc/libsnmp.pm using sentences similar to this one:
Code: [Select]
$na =~ s/^(.*?)\.(.*)/$1/ if !$main::opt{'F'};
Could be interesting to use a new NeDi configuration parameter (Domain name) ?
Preceding code would be transformed to:

Code: [Select]
$mydomain = ".acme.com";
$na =~ s/^(.*?)$mydomain/$1/; if !$main::opt{'F'};

Discovery / Device name + FQDN and Neighbor name truncation
« on: March 23, 2016, 12:17:14 PM »
Hi,

In discovery process using FQDN (-f option), neighborīs names are truncated on 40 characters lenght.
Instead, Nedi.links table is defined to be 64 characters for neighbor field

Code: [Select]
DisProtocol  ------------------------------------------------------------------
SNMP:Connect 10.39.191.201 XXXXX v2 Tout:7s MaxMS:4095 Retry:1 NB:0
NEB :10124.1
CDP :RAD_0.3_cat3750G_IMG01.1234.1234567890.1,Gi1/0/50 10.39.191.1 on Gi0/24

Discovery / Re: Neighbors not included like devices

Adding IP to seedlist file and running discovery process generates described problem.
Adding IP to seedlist and running discovery with -p option worked fine (devices were detected and created on NeDi database).

Discovery / Neighbors not included like devices
« on: March 14, 2016, 10:08:14 AM »
Hi all,

I am in trouble with several devices connected to FastEthernet ports (provisional devices).
They are discovered via CDP protocol but they donīt appear like new devices.
If i include their IPs in seedlist file they are discovered and created in nedi.devices.

Symptoms are similar to described on http://forum.nedi.ch/index.php?topic=1495.msg5870#msg5870

For example, 032_cat2950_01-3 device (an old cisco WS-C2950G-24-EI) is detected, one record is created on nedi.links but no record on nedi.devices:

Code: [Select]
DisProtocol  ------------------------------------------------------------------
SNMP:Connect 10.39.255.28 xxxxx v2 Tout:7s MaxMS:4095 Retry:1 NB:0
NEB :10002.84
CDP :032_cat2950_01-3,Fa0/1 10.39.110.201 on Fa1/0/2
NEB :10101.85
CDP :core6509urp,Gi2/21 172.16.0.109 on Gi1/0/1

My nedi.conf file contains:

Code: [Select]
netfilter ^10\.39\.|^10\.40
nosnmpdev IP\s(Phone|Telephone)|^ATA|AIR-[CL]AP|MAP-|AP(\s|_)Controlled|MSM\d{3}|armv5tejl/Linux
;ignoredesc LaserJet|JETDIRECT|HP-UX|Linux

Problematic devices match nedi.conf parameters.

Any suggestion or comment are welcome.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am in trouble discovering devices with a point character in device name. For example: 5.1_cat2950_48
In discovery log, a "5" device is registered erroneously after analyzing CDP.

Is there any path for this error ?
I am using NeDio14.

Thanks.

Database / Re: slot fieldīs lenght in modules table
« on: March 09, 2016, 02:16:12 PM »
Hi Remo,

Thanks for your response.

There was a mistake in my question (i am using another NeDi installation for testing purpose  ::)).
Slot field definition can be changed on database schema and change is permanent (it is not affect by database repair on Nedio14 start).

Thks.

Database / slot fieldīs lenght in modules table
« on: March 07, 2016, 02:44:17 PM »
Hi,

Discovery process broke with the following message:

Code: [Select]
...
WDEV:core6509-VSS written to nedi.devices
WIF :366 interfaces written to nedi.interfaces
DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Data too long for column 'slot' at row 1 at /var/nedi/inc/libdb.pm line 1234.
DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Data too long for column 'slot' at row 1 at /var/nedi/inc/libdb.pm line 1234.

After changing slot field definition with MySQL sentence ALTER TABLE modules MODIFY COLUMN slot varchar(255) DEFAULT ''; discovery process worked fine.
But NeDIO14 reboot changed again slot field definition to varchar(64).

Which is the process to fix this error ?

Tkx.

Installation / Re: NeDi demo database /snapshot
« on: February 24, 2016, 11:18:08 AM »
Sorry, but 14-floridalab.gz file seems to be corrupted. Is it possible?

Finally i loaded database on NeDi.
Locations table was empty but it could be regenerated with Location editor.

I loaded several images on topo directory to test and learn loceditor functionality.
Curiously, region image is not displayed until city is selected. why ?

Good morning,

Is there any NeDi demo database/snapshot to evaluate programīs main features ?
I am in trouble with network map feature, basically.
Documentation is insufficient for a newbie like me  :(

Thanks.
