GUI / Device Write command fails
« on: February 02, 2016, 01:40:48 PM »
I'm running the NeDio 1.4 and I've had this problem for some time but have not been able to determine what or how to correct. Here's my problem, when I go to a device and click on the Device Write icon, it will bring up the Device Write screen but is has this error, "Errors Write /var/nedi/cli/cmd_admin" (see attachment). This fails on both the admin and my user account. What is causing this error and how do I correct it?

GUI / Help understanding Topology maps
« on: September 17, 2015, 02:52:35 PM »
Can someone help me understand the network maps feature. On several switches when I show a topology map it will draw a yellow or gold colored oval around two of the devices. I attached a sample. What does this mean? Does it indicate an loop or something?

Thanks for your help...

NeDiO / NeDi014 db failed error
« on: March 11, 2015, 02:20:31 PM »
I've been running the NeDi014 version for several weeks and now and really like the improvements that you have made. GREAT JOB!! I have come across an error when I try to add a couple of Cisco AP's 1200 series. I'm using NeDi to add the IP address and it goes through all of the normal steps but fails before it completes with this error. I'm only getting these on 3 Cisco AP's while others are working normally. I also did not have this problem in the NeDio09 version. Hope you can point me in the right direction to resolve this.

Write Nodes -- DBD::mysql::db do failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'to Calcine Scale House,'M',1426079306,'')' at line 1 at /var/nedi/inc/libdb.pm line 1849. DBD::mysql::db do failed:

Thanks again for such a great product.

NeDiO / Re: NeDi09 upgrade to NeDi 1.4
« on: February 18, 2015, 07:40:15 PM »
Just downloaded and setup NeDio014. I ran across a couple of issues that worked in Nedio -9 but is not working correctly in ver. 01.4. I have several Cisco 1841 routers that when I try to add either by discovery or adding by seedlist, it fails with SNMP access.  It seems to discover all of the nodes on the devices but it will not resolve the DNS name and the IP address is only showing Both of these worked correctly in the previous version.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Discovery / No IP's found on subnet
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:59:51 PM »
We have five different locations each with their own subnet and we are using NeDio8 to monitor the network. The information that it gives us on our switches and what is connected to them is very useful. All of the subnets are reporting devices and their nodes correctly except for one. At this location the devices are correct and they show the nodes that are populated on the switches but all of the node IP addresses report as There may be several Windows computers that display the IP address correctly but for the remainder are zeros. At this location, we only have RO access to the router (managed by someone else) but I do have a Cisco 3550 layer 3 switch. Would it be possible to get the IP information from the switch and if so, how do I do this? I've experimented with Defgen but the result doesn't change.

Thanks for a great product...

NeDiO / Re: CLI Bridge Fwd error: no working user error

When I make changes to the nedi.conf, do I need to restart Nedi for the changes to be applied?

NeDiO / CLI Bridge Fwd error: no working user error
« on: February 19, 2014, 11:45:52 PM »
I'm running the new NeDio9 and really like the new look. I have several routers that we are only allowed to have SNMP read access so every time the discovery runs(hourly) I get several messages like this:CLI Bridge Fwd error: no working user. Is there a way the I can have NeDi ignore these devices(non CLI access) but still use CLI on the remainder?

On the switches that having this problem, I went in to defgen and changed the OS from Cisco IOS to IOS (<12.1) and I no longer am getting the message.

Thanks for your help...

When I log into the switch and run this command, I do not get any error. It only shows up in NeDio9.

I'm receiving the errors on Cisco 2900 and 3500 running 12.0(5)WC10.

I'm running NeDio9 on VMWare and I'm also getting these same errors on each discovery (hourly) on several Cisco switches. I did not get these on NeDioi8 version.

I think that I understand what you are saying. Lets take this for example, "Degritter_AP   Config changed (@13537750s) 156.68 days after writing to flash (@1s)". So is this saying the the running config changed 156.68 days ago  after it copied to the running to startup? Does the (@13537750s) correlate to 156.68 days? If this is correct then I would need to copy the running to startup and this notification should disappear. Correct?? I mistakenly assumed that the midnight backup was in fact performing a copy of the running to startup configs but instead, NeDio is just backing up the configs to the NeDio somewhere. Correct??

I have 4 or 5 devices that I do not have CLI access to. Is there a way that I can tell NeDio to ignore these and to not try to backup?

What about NeDio9 not detecting changes to IP addresses in nodes? I've tried both j and J and even removed them, let it run for several hours and it still will not detect any IP's of nodes.  It will detect device IP changes but nothing in the node IP addresses.
