Installation / Missing in backup after upgrade to 1.5c
« on: December 22, 2016, 01:45:12 AM »
In older versions we always got info about who did a change in config
"NVRAM config last updated at 13:04:39 se Fri Oct 21 2016 by xxxxx"

I have upgraded to 1.5c and now this info is missing,  I can see what have been done but userinfo is missing !
Is this a bug ?

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.220.1.1.1.2, if you get 4(four) as returnvalue then Dot.1x is enabled on that port

Database / Re: Changed from MyISAM to InnoDB
« on: June 01, 2016, 05:30:05 PM »
It was pretty easy, I just followed one of several instructions I found on the net
basically only one command per table

Before you alter the tables,  stop all jobs that connected to database

then:
ALTER TABLE tablename ENGINE=InnoDB;

When you are done with all tables you should edit "my.cnf" with InnoDB parameters that is adjusted for you hardware
You might have "fiddle" around with the different InnoDB parameters,  some of them made my installation unusable but when taking them out it works again

I ended up with just these two rows
innodb_thread_concurrency=8
innodb_buffer_pool_size=2G

then you have to restart mysql engine,

News / Beta NeDi 1.1.155
« on: August 21, 2014, 04:02:54 PM »
I have found a thing that I cant resolve,

In monitor-health,   I get Latency warnings even if I specified a high value in nedi.conf
eg "latency-warn    500".  so even if I have 500 in nedi.conf I get warnings for all objects that have a latency over 100ms

GUI / Re: Device-Status
« on: July 29, 2014, 12:59:04 PM »
Nope,, if we both mean that "type"  is the exact model of equipment,, 2960-24TT-L, WS-C2960X-48LPD-L, 3750-24TS-24 and so on

GUI / Device-Status
« on: July 27, 2014, 02:25:59 AM »
First of all, the latest beta have really taken Nedi further,   it seems to go from a enterprise tool to a more mature tool that can handle outsourcing / offshoring in a better way.

I have one suggestion,,  could we have "type" included in the Device-Status" view..  for a technician its very useful  to know if its an 2960S-48FPD-L or a 2960S-24TD-L.

As you mentioned at the webb

"Threaded discovery is more  complex than expected, especially with perl on OpenBSD
not supporting threads out of the box!"

Maybe its time to look into some other distro,,

To me,, and I am a rookie in this field,  it looks like Centos is highly respected ServerOS.
Idont know if Centos is better supporting threads,  but as it is a "cousin" to RH it might be more
matured than Ubuntu ( u had a video how to install on Ubuntu,  thats why I mention it)

just a thought,,

right now having around ~2500 devices,  ~3500 modules,  ~165 000 interfaces,  113 450 Vlans   :)

The system feels a little sluggish with this volumes :)

Suggestions

- Identify 802.1x ports in "Device Status View"
  More and more networks is using 802.1x for security but still there is need for some ports to be open,  it would be very helpful to easily  view and monitor what ports are "open state"

- Check ports as "monitored" or "not monitored"
Sometimes you don't want to monitor a certain port, the reasons could be several.

- Support for external pollers.
When monitoring large networks and

This is a biggy :) and probably not doable

- From the "device list"  placing objects on a map :)..  system will then automatically make/draw  the connections
- In a map,  change the positions of a object and make it more viewable (I know the map is dynamic and updated each time u use it,, so I can see the challenge in this)

Right now,,  monitoring ~2000 devices with ~3700 modules,  ~140K interfaces
