Title: NeDi Discovery
Post by: Mikeuyz on November 27, 2012, 11:34:55 AM
Nedi Members and Staff,

Is it possible to make NeDi look for Duplicate Mac Addresses at Switches/Routers?
I want Nedi to mail us every time it found something like that and hasn't been reported yet.

Why do i want this?
Once there was a guy that got the same mac address as our core router. This caused us alot of troubles in the network.
However.... I would like to have a script like this if it doesn't exists yet.

Could someone explain me how to enable this when it "does" exists.

Greatz,
Mikey

There's a duplicate node report, but I can see that this won't cover your needs. I'll look into adding a discovery event...

Old thread, I know, but I'm catching up :)

Shouldn't the router send syslog events/traps, if the same MAC is detected? If not, configuring ARP protection should do the trick...

I'm afraid, I can't do this reliably otherwise
