Title: need to modify the time when sending alert
Post by: savanna on September 30, 2011, 06:15:19 PM
hello community..
not sure if this is the right place/section to ask this question..
in older version (1.0.5)the alert message sent within 5 minutes after the "equipment" is down or reboot..
but with 1.0.7 it sends same alert within 10 minutes..

So, where do I change this time?

Thxs,

Look for check-alert and pause in nedi.conf. The default is 2 and 300 seconds thus you get notified after 10minutes (worst case). I made pause a bit bigger, because the devices are checked one after another for proper dependency handling. The problem I try to avoid is when a lot of devices are down in a large network...

It should be ok for like 250 devices to use a pause of 120 seconds, then you should get a mail within 240 seconds. Of course you could set check-alert to 1, but then even glitches where a device doesn't respond for once will cause an alert. Check the events and if you don't see any unreachable entries you can give it a try...
